Set It Off

That all rise up; That all are called; That none are left behind ~ Popul Vuh

This is what i liked about tribe. Unlike with facebook and myspace, you got to feel like you were shielded from the whole wide word staring at you as you sounded off about something or other.

the thing i don't like about ning is that you can't tell when anyone has posted in a group. otherwise, of all the forums to choose from it seems to be the best.

i have a not so good feeling about tribe refugees, not like it's bad, but just like its not really where i wanna be. so i guess i'll try to be here? tho it's kind of quiet and forgotten....

where you at?

I did get your reminder message, arize - I have checked in once in awhile, but as you know it's been quiet -- mostly I'm on Tribe Refugees and belong to several subgroups there. Then I belong to more that are groups on their own, like this one, that mostly got started a year ago before we knew how things were and weren't linkable here. There are navigational problems with Ning that mean I have to sign in to the main Ning site separately in order to check on the independent groups I'm in on Ning. Then, since recent activity isn't indicated up front like it is on Tribe, I have to go into each one of those separately to see if anything's happening. This takes a long time and usually yields zero results so I don't do it much anymore. If I sign directly in to Tribe Refugees, I can't go backwards to my groups page for Ning as a whole. Navigating backwards to do anything on Ning seems impossible, I haven't been able to figure this out. So, since time is always a factor, this is why I'm not around on the independent groups, and why I've encouraged people to set up under Tribe Refugees. As MC notes, a dubious element is causing problems over there already but it's early days yet and these can be resolved. I keep my long-term desire in mind always: I want a place like Tribe, but one that actually works. I like Set It Off and have since its start. But since I'm still doing Tribe when I can, and Tribe Refugees has a lot of content now and takes a lot of time, I just don't make it over here!

>>the thing i don't like about ning is that you can't tell when anyone has posted in a group<<

you can in the "latest activity" module

this is why it's important to have it displayed near forum and groups modules.

(of course, it's only really effective in smaller groups that are not getting tons of posts)
